About Silmaril
Silmaril Consulting is a Glasgow-based AI consultancy working with small and mid-sized businesses across Scotland. Our clients range from accountancy practices and marketing agencies to charities and healthcare technology firms.
We help these organisations replace manual, fragmented processes with automation that holds up in daily use. Our work runs through three stages: an AI Readiness Audit that identifies the opportunities, projects that implement them, and a Managed AI Service that maintains and enhances the systems and reports on the return.
The role
We are looking for a Project Manager to take ownership of client delivery. You will run engagements from kickoff through to handover, coordinating our consultants and technical team, managing timelines, testing what we build, and producing the documentation clients rely on.
This is a client-facing role. You will be the day-to-day contact for the accounts you manage, and a significant part of the job involves writing documents that clients read and act on.
You will not be writing code, but you will need to understand the logic of what we build well enough to test it, document it, and explain it clearly.
Key responsibilities
Project delivery
- Set up new engagements, including stakeholder mapping, scheduling, and maintaining accurate project records
- Own project timelines and the definition of done for each build
- Coordinate consultants and the technical team to keep work moving to schedule
- Test builds against agreed process maps before client handover, including edge cases
- Escalate risks and slippage early
Client documentation
- Write the Client Playbook for each build: practical written procedures that allow the client's own team to operate what we have delivered
- Draft monthly ROI reports for Managed AI Service clients, translating system data into clear commercial outcomes
Client relationships
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for live accounts
- Monitor running automations and coordinate resolution of issues
- Identify opportunities where a client may benefit from further work, and support those conversations
Requirements
Essential
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as business, management, computing, information systems, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Two or more years in project management, delivery, or client account management. A formal project management title is not required; agency, operations, or professional services experience is equally welcome
- Demonstrable experience using AI tools in a business setting, and a clear understanding of where they are and are not appropriate
- Excellent written English, with the ability to produce clear, professional documents for a senior audience
- Confident dealing directly with clients, including when issues arise
- Highly organised, with the discipline to maintain a structured delivery process
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly Docs, Sheets and Drive, and with collaboration tools such as Slack
- Experience working within a CRM and maintaining accurate records
Desirable
- APM qualification or equivalent
- Familiarity with HubSpot
- Familiarity with automation platforms such as Zapier, Make or Clay
- Ability to read process maps and flowcharts
- Experience working in a small or growing business
- Experience tracking ROI of Project outcomes
What we offer
- Salary of £33,000 to £36,000, depending on experience
- 5% uncapped commission on follow-on business from existing clients
- Salary reviewed every six months
- 30 days annual leave, inclusive of public holidays
- 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, exclusive of lunch breaks
- Hybrid working, with three days per week in our Glasgow office
- Funded project management qualification to a value of £1,200 excluding VAT, with no repayment clause. If you already hold one, the budget is redirected to development of your choosing
- Workplace pension through NEST
- Reporting directly to the Directors, with genuine influence over how delivery works
